PlatinumGames’ NEO-CLASSIC ARCADE series is a continuation of the spirit and fun of classic gaming through modern technologies, and the first project in this direction can be described as Sol Cresta. Sol Cresta takes the docking and formation methods of old-fashioned shooter games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta and elevates them with the “free-form docking” technique. The main character, Yamato is comprised of the three ships Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano are able to utilize different types of attack depending on how three of the ships are aligned. The key to defeating Mandler’s army of invaders is docking the ships, separating them and reforming them.
